I've got quite the fun weekend ahead of me! I'm about to head to the airport to pick up Bobby! I'm so happy he'll be here this weekend. We are going to look for an apartment today then joining my family for a little picnic on clear lake then off to a grad party. After that we may catch up with some friends for drinks...we shall see! Tomorrow we are going to Papadeaux - our favorite seafood spot - then he heads back to MS. Just a few more weeks until he's home in Houston for good!!
This time I'll be sure to take my camera!

Germans are mean
Dear Mean German Lady at the gym,
My abs can't take your torture. While I've only taken two classes with you, I'm assured that all 5'2" and 105 pounds of you is unmistakably mean. Please don't yell because I can't understand your German accent -- the one that my friend thinks is Russian and my sister thinks is Spanish. I, however, am positive you must've been a friend of Hitler.
In the 5 minutes that we spend together twice a week, I've grown dislike you a little more each time while enjoying my abs a little better. I guess I can thank you for that.
So, dear mean German lady, I will see you again on Tuesday...but not because I like you, but because my belly fat is slowly melting away and I feel I am forced to offer you the credit. But please, don't be too mean to me or I will be forced to go to Linda's ab class and hope that she is nicer...
Sincerely,
a very scared-of-you member of your class

Curbow's Out!
I did it. I skipped workout class to drink! It was a blast! I went with my sister and one of her best friends and we had a great time chatting and catching up. And guess what I forgot...MY CAMERA! As usual!
Well, it other and BIG news. Bobby and I decided to back out of our house. We are supposed to schedule in 16 days and they won't give us a completion date on the house. They are pushing our closing date which will cost us a lot of money that we don't want to spend. Also, I've been really, really stressed about this decision. Yeah, I was excited because the house was bad a** but I pretty much made the decision on my own and I really wasn't ok with that. Bobby doesn't want the house because it's really expensive and I would have to work. He wants me to stay home or work in Houston where I will be closer to home and have more flexibility. (on that subject -- I'm at a loss as to what to do!)
I've only been here for 6 weeks so I don't feel like it's appropriate to leave but would love to find something in Houston, closer to home, with more flexibility and WAY more money. Seriously, I get paid pennies.
Tips, words of advice, encouragement...all happily accepted.
Tonight is back in the swing of things. We thought Zumba was tonight but it's Friday so it looks like running and weights. Unless we do Core Cross Training...I have NO idea what that is though and I think it's the scary blonde German lady...who I will definitely dedicate a post to soon!

I guess it's ok...
So I'm thinking about skipping the workout class and just going for a run then to $1 margaritas with the sister...Oh well, five days in a row is pretty good...
Excuse me, but you need to leave.
So yesterday the sister and I went to an ab class and then to the cycle class and you will not believe what happened! We were asked to leave...no, no. Told to leave! Can you believe that!? Apparently you have to sign up for the class and we didn't know. So yep, we got the boot. It was stupid and we were both not happy about it. So we just ran and had an easy workout.
Tonight: Pilates and kickboxing...SO EXCITED!
In other new, we talked to the contractor for the house and it won't be ready as soon as it's supposed to be. I think they were just blowing smoke up my behind and telling me whatever it is they think I want to hear. My husband finally got an honest answer and it's going to be pushed back AT LEAST 2 1/2 weeks. Which sucks. I'm so mad, part of me just wants to get an apartment and forget the house.
Are any of you ladies big on perfume? I need a new scent. I have a Michael Kors perfume called Very Pretty that I love but I'm almost out. And my absolute favorite perfumes from Victoria's Secret: Secret 55 and Secret 33 were discontinued years ago and I'm still bitter. I hate Very Sexy -- unless I'm going to a smoky club. So, what's your favorite?

Who Knew Working Out Could Be So Much Fun
Lately I've been totally inspired. I'm kinda weird when it comes to working out. It's really hard for me to get into it when I take time off but once I do, I actually really enjoy it. Like REALLY. One of new favorite blog reads is The Fitnessista. She seriously has me wanting to quit my job and be a fitness trainer. Check out her blog for training tips and healthy (delicious-looking) recipes!
Yesterday I mentioned that my sister and I were going to take a Zumba class...Well, we did and ohmygosh was it fun! It was really hard to keep up with the instructor and for a little minute there I was wondering when they were going to bring out the poles and 4" heels, but it was a blast! We had such a good time I think we are going back on Thursday. It's not an insanely hard workout, though we both thing that if we could actually have kept up with her, it would have been harder.
Tonight we are going to do either kickboxing or spin class. Not sure which one but I think it's going to be spin -- and maybe the ab class before it.
Things are going full speed ahead on the house! We've scheduled the inspector and appraisal for next weekend and we close in 17 days! I can't believe it's so close! We are really excited to be our little city dwelling. We talked about buying in a suburb of Houston but realized we are SO not ready for that. We both really want to enjoy the city while we can and have both always wanted to live in this area. I'll be so excited once everything finally comes through. I'll be back up there Saturday morning so hopefully I can get some almost done pics of the house to post.
I'm so excited for the weekend! We are finally having my cousin's graduation party so that will be so much fun! Is it sad that I'm wishing away the next few weeks of my life?
By the way -- thanks for all of your sweet comments yesterday. If you couldn't tell, I was so excited that it required a second posting in one day!

And "Oh S*&t" was all I could think...
So the last few weeks I've been feeling like I'm really getting the hang of things here at my new job. I've said before that I'm surprised at how quickly I felt I had picked up on everything. So far most of my clients have been pretty easy to work with. I do have a few that think they have until 4 p.m. the day of deadline to submit things but it's still been going ok.
Well, last week I met with a client who scared the crap out me. I showed up at his office to discuss his upcoming story and he proceeded to tell me how much he hated his last story and that the girl who wrote it (not me, thank God.) made him look like an A-hole. He said that he almost pulled his ad.
sidebar: I'm a feature writer at a local county newspaper and I work in the advertising departments -- so basically, these people pay for these stories and I have to write what they want...even if it's bad.
So, I write the story, send him the proof and wait in terror that he is going to call and rip me to shreds. No calls...for days. The finally on Friday, he calls and says, "Ok, I guess it's good." Now, this may not seem like an ideal response but compared to what I had to deal with before, I was ecstatic. I printed the story and it ran in today's paper.
This morning I'm sitting at my desk trying to work on stories for other clients when my phone rings and I see on my caller ID it says ELI Last Name.I freak. I literally said, "Oh s*$&. I'm about to hear it." My co-worker just watched as I answered the phone and you'll never believe what I heard on the other end...
"Hey, Stevy. It's Eli. Just wanted to tell you I was really happy with my story. I think you did a good job and I've already had two people stop in the store from reading today's paper."
My response, "umm..ehh. Well, Thanks Eli."
Yep. I'm an idiot. I was so prepared for a tongue lashing that I didn't even know how to respond when he complimented me!
Here's hoping my other clients are just as please!
Zumba!
Lazy. That's how my weekend was and I loved every second of it! Friday night I went to the gym and had a great workout. I was so exhausted from the week that I went to sleep at 11. How old am I? Saturday I didn't go to the gym...I know. I had an appointment in Houston at 9 and then I went to help my family out at a benefit. It was 100 degrees outside and we were outside all. day. long. It was exhausting. I was literally ready for bed at 7 but I held on until about 10. How pathetic, right?! Sunday I went shopping, bought some new makeup, workout clothes and a bday gift for my nephew.
Has anyone tried Bare Essentials? I decided to give up on Laura Mercier and give it a shot. So far, I really like it. I even bought the face wash to see how that works out. I feel like my makeup is really light, not cakey but still provides good coverage where needed.
Tonight the sister and I are taking Zumba. Has anyone tried this? I'm excited but I have no idea what it is. Hopefully she won't bail on me. I don't want to be only one in there who doesn't know what she's doing!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
