I Work too Much...

Well, here I am. It is 7:45 a.m. on a Saturday morning and I've already been at work for an hour in this freezing cold office and I swear the water dripping down from the crappy air conditioner is about to freeze over. I should be home in my warm, comfortable pillow-top bed. The project is about to kick off which means no more life for me. I'll be working every Saturday from now on. I can't wait for this job to be over and to get back into my little PR bubble! I  miss working with girls, wearing heels and dresses, and fixing my hair. Yeah, you read that right, I don't fix my hair for work, I can't wear dresses and heels are considered unsafe. Good Lord, the things people will do for money!

So, here I am at work, for sole purpose of waiting for some reports from my boss. Who is not here yet. And just called to say she would be late. Which I kinda figured since work starts at 7 a.m. and it's now 7:55 a.m. I'm smart like that. Very observant! So here's how I've been occupying my time. JCrew.com baby! I so wish I knew what size shirts I am J Crew. Of course, there isn't one in this tiny little country town I live in and I can't online shop because I haven't been to a J Crew post-BR and have no idea what size I would wear. Below you'll find a few items on my Christmas list...  :)

The whole thing -- just wrap it up Santa!
Victoria ruffle shirt

Seriously, is this not the cutest press-release-writing dress ever!
Wool shift dress

Because I think I can actually wear this to work...
Sequin tweed école jacket

So cute. I'm hoping Santa will come early.
Sketchbook roses Belle skirt

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be here at work. Wasting away.

Update

The guy who was hit was a 29-year-old man and did not make it. Please pray for his family. He was hit by a 21-year-old girl. I'm not sure what is going to happen from here but our project is shut down until further notice. If you see a construction project going in an area where you drive, please remember to be careful. You never know if someone could be working. The guy who was hit was a flagger for our job.

This news has the entire office upset. I hate to think of someone's life ending at such a young age. Well, two lives ending. I'm not sure what is going to happen to her. Please pray for his family.

XOXO,

Rough Start

This morning we had an incident at work that may result in the loss of a life. One of our traffic flaggers was hit by a car -- which appears to be a hit-and-run. Ambulance and police are on the scene and hopefully his life will be save. Please pray for him to make it through and for his family. I'll keep you updated.

On a much lighter note, I started Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster last night...and then the power went out. What is up in  my neighborhood? This is the third time we've lost power in the three months we've been here. Seriously?

Conversations with the Boss

Stevy:  "Do you want me to send it to the guys in an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF?"

Pam:   "No, in an email. What are you talking about? Speak English. A PDF?"

Yep, she's my boss.

Crazy Day!

It has already been such a long week for me! Work has been crazy busy and I'm still trying to get used to my new role. The work itself hasn't been too hard but it's just been really busy and my boss is most definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. She doesn't know how to use Excel, and when I tell her how to do something, she tells me its wrong. UGH!! She makes me want to scream!

Yesterday a funny thing happened. I have to Fed Ex all of my guys time sheets to the corporate office every Tuesday. I called first thing yesterday morning so that I wouldn't forget. Our Fed Ex guy usually gets here around 2:30 every day so I though I had plenty of time to get the sheets signed, scanned and in the mail. Of course, I was wrong. When the hubs and I got back from lunch the Fed Ex guy was most definitely already here. One of the guys that works in my group asked him to wait around a few minutes thinking this would be a nice gesture, which it was, but not a helpful as the time sheets were locked in my bosses office! We have the nicest delivery guy so I gave him what I had ready and asked him if I could meet up with him and give him the other package after a bit (if the time sheets aren't at Corporate by Wednesday, my guys don't get paid). So, we make plans to meet at McDonalds. I get all of my stuff done and go to McDonalds to meet him and guess what he was doing -- SLEEPING IN HIS TRUCK! I felt so bad that I had to wake him up, but you better believe I was cracking up!

Today is also the day my books come in!! I ordered Such a Pretty Fat and Bright Lights Big Ass from B&N.com and they come in today! I'm so excited -- but feelin' too tired to read at the moment.

Do you have a bad scar?

Ok, so here I am, only two and a half months post-BR and I'm already happy the job my doctor did. The scars are minimal and the girls look portioned to my body -- finally. About three weeks ago I went to my final post-op appointment and was told that I could start a scar treatment. The doctor recommend Scarguard -- and now, I do too!

Since I've been using it, I've already seen the scars reduce. If you have a bad scar that you would like to remedy, you should try this product. You can order it online at www.scarguard.com. I believe it works best on fresher scars. Check out the website. I know it worked wonders for me already! If you've never seen what BR incision scars look like, they are quite large and shaped like an anchor. This medicine, and the work of a great surgeon, helped me diminish my scarring significantly!

Just Another Manic Monday...Wish it was Sunday...

We had a pretty busy weekend this weekend! Bobby's parents came in for a visit. Friday night when they got in, we decided to go eat at Saltgrass on the Boardwalk. It was a nice little dinner and the steak was great! After dinner we came home to hang out. They had a long drive and Bobby had to work Saturday.

So, Saturday morning his parents and I went to run a few errands. I took my pup to the groomer, picked up some wedding photos I had printed and then it was time for the casino! No big bonus this time though. We missed out on the Blind Tiger and decided to go to the Revel, again. It was ok. We saw Bucky Covington -- from American Idol. I wasn't so impressed. He really needs to take a mini-vacay and give those vocal cords a rest! After the concert we checked out a few of the bars in downtown Shreveport for the first time.

Sunday, I had a little shopping trip planned with my neighbor who was nice enough to join me. It was not so successful, sadly. I did buy two pair of pants, two tops and a pair of wedges. The wedges will be for next summer but I couldn't pass them up -- $5.97 at Banana Republic! The pants I got are cute but the tops were kinda plain. I just needed them for work. I've been so excited to find some new post-BR clothes but I haven't been so lucky. I'm really missing the Houston Galleria right about now. What sucks is that I haven't done much shopping since the BR and so I'm not sure what sizes shirts I would wear at the stores I would usually shop at. So, online shopping is sadly out. What I wouldn't give for a Club Monaco or Zara right about now...Sad days.

However, I did get to hang out with my neighbor some -- who I love. It's hard for me to make friends because I'm not really friendly -- I didn't say nice, I said friendly, there's a difference. But, I do love her and we get along great so far! I'm so excited to have made my first Louisiana friend!

Hope everyone's weekend was great!

Almost Done!!

Guess what?! I'm almost finished with my Christmas shopping! I can't believe how productive I've been so far. I'm completely done with all the kids I'm buying for...now on to the adults! I love Christmas and love love love Christmas shopping! Before the BR, I always had a hard time shopping for myself, but now, I love it! Even so, there is nothing better than buying Christmas gifts for kids!

Now, I'm off to do some shopping of my own. Wish me luck! Hopefully I'll take some time and post photos of some of my finds!

Here's a sad story. Yesterday we were leaving the Red Revel Festival (again) and I saw a little boy who was about 2 with his parents. They were trying to get him to hold the dad's hand and he didn't want to. He said he only wanted to hold his mom's hand. So the dad PULLED HIS HAIR!!! Can you believe that!? I almost cried. I mean, seriously, would you wanna hold the guys hand. I sure wouldn't! However people can be so horrible to kids is beyond me! I mean, the kid is 2 for crying out loud! He's going to be defiant and there are better ways to handle it than pulling the kids hair! So, when I was leaving Wal-Mart, there were people collecting money for child abuse prevention. I had to donate. Because I don't care what you say, pulling a 2-year-old's hair, is child abuse!
