She Got Out of Town, On a Railway NY Bound...

Ok, so we're taking a plane...but one week from today the best friend and I will be on our way to NY to visit one of my favorite people on the planet! There is lots of celebrating to be had: three birthdays; KBiggs - the gorgeous blonde, Joss - her amazing ex-roomie from London, and my G - best friend ever. Not to mention, my name in glossy print will be the subjects of many toasts. And it's almost my half birthday - totally worth celebrating.

This was KBiggs and I in NY on St. Paddy's Day 2007. Hence the green eye shadow. Done by a RuPaul wannabe.

This is me, KBiggs and Joss in NY -- at the apartment I wanted to buy. If you don't know by now, I'm completely obsessed with NY.

And this is how much fun we will have...

My stunningly beautiful bestie (who had better hair than me on my WEDDING DAY!) who will be celebrating her 20-something birthday and her first time in NY.
(GByrd. We desperately need some pictures together. What the crap. After four years of HS together and two years of college and know each other for 10 years. I don't have enough pictures!)

Shred Update. Today will be Day 4. I haven't shredded yet but will do so this afternoon. I've figured out the secret. You can't miss a day. If you do, the soreness will not go away. Definitely have to push through and it will go away! I know I've only been doing this for three days, but I definitely feel like I will lose my desired 8 pounds.

ADVICE NEEDED: I know I won't shred in NY and will drink my daily calorie intake (I'm not even gonna lie) so what should I do? Maybe a run in Central Park? We will be walking the city...I just don't wanna break my great streak!

I've got a busy day ahead...Lunch with my husband, post office to mail surprises to my former and favorite college roomie, Shredding, unpacking, walking my pups and who knows...

Question: do you ladies blog or read blogs on the weekend? I know quite a few of you who do not. Just curious. Stay tuned for Post #100....

By the way...Did you guys hear about the book that lady wrote about hating her mom?! She's supposed to be on The View today.

Day 3 of the Shred and I can't walk. I don't hate Jillian, I hate the two girls in the background who don't even sweat during the workout. Is that normal. I gonna have to say no. I've been doing really well with my eating, though, I'm usually a pretty healthy eater anyway. So, hopefully this will produce results. I'm still doing level one but hope to move to level 2 by day 7...We shall see.

In other news, my best friend, and the girl who should have been my MOH, has started a blog. Check her out at Chatter Byrd and give a warm welcome! She's a little nervous to be starting a blog and doesn't think she'll get many readers. But trust me, she's a story-teller if I've ever met one! She's witty, smart, funny, beautiful and will definitely keep you amused. She will also be with me in New York one week from tomorrow! Seriously people, consuming my thoughts!

Well, I'm off to work, loading up my car and making the 8 hour trek to Mississippi to see my wonderful husband. By the way, I'm doing all that I can to avoid seeing Star Trek this weekend. I'll even resort to being sick...I am hoping to see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past...

Like my new look? 'Cause I love it! Thanks to Casey I have this whole new blog! If you want a new layout for your blog, be sure to check out her blog design page! If that doesn't take you there just click on the link in my sidebar.

This morning I started Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred and here I am, a mere 10 hours later and I am so sore! I thought I did ok during the workout and I was able to hang with the girl doing the modified version easily...Ok, well, not easily, but I didn't do terrible. I did, at one point, feel like I was gonna die though. So, tomorrow will be day two!

Ok, I am thrilled to be telling you all this ~ as most of my readers know, I'm an intern at a magazine in Houston and guess what!? I saw my name in print for the first time today! I was so excited! I had a four write-ups, all about 70-120 words. It's not much, but for me, it's so exciting!

Tonight my brother and I are going my cousin's baseball game and I'll be giving his little sister her birthday gift. She's gonna love it...You'll have to wait and see what it is when I post pictures tomorrow!

Also, a little news you can't live without, one week from Thursday this girl will have her butt in the seat of plane alongside her best friend on the way to NYC baby! We are going to celebrate her birthday and the birthday of another one of my best friends from college. And seriously, it's consuming my thoughts...

The Big Easy

Whew! What a weekend this turned out to be! I was supposed to stay in Houston for a gala but found out that I didn't have to go, so, I loaded up the fur babies and went to Mississippi to see my honey. Friday I was playing on the computer when he called said, "Guess what?! I get to leave work at noon and I'm off Saturday and Sunday!" I was beyond thrilled! You see, my husband is a pipeline engineer and he's working on a construction project now and if you know anyone in construction, they work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day. So, I was so excited to have him all to myself this weekend!

We decided to take a little trip to New Orleans! My first time! We stayed at the W French Quarter and I would highly recommend it anyone, especially if you have pets! They offer dog walking, dog sitting, pet beds and they dogs are welcome at the pool! They even bring your dog water and treats! It's amazing! So, here are a few pictures of the weekend!

This guy called him self 24 and said that taking pictures with tourists is how he makes his 5's. I gave him $2...

Cheer'sing to Vacation! We learned that from my grandparents. And can I just say, if you ever go to NOLA, stay away from the Grenade. I had one and lets just say, I learned I can't party like I could in college...

We also did a little shopping at French Connection. Seriously, if I could only shop at one place for the rest of my life, I'd be fine if that one place was French Connection! I purchased a few things but the hubs really scored! I was glad because he got a few pieces I've been trying to get him to buy for a while. Here is one of my purchases...I couldn't find the skirt or two tops that I bought. I'll have to take a picture and post that. Tomorrow, I start the Shred! I'm so nervous!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Be sure to keep checking back on my blog this week! I have a new look and an announcement coming up for my 100th post!

XOXO,
Stevy
Oh. My. GOSH. I completely forgot to tell a crazy story. Saturday Bobby and I were hanging out at the pool with the dogs when these three girls come and ask if they can share our table and sit on the couch across from us (the set up was pretty cool, kinda like a lounge bar). Of course, we say yes. Two of the girls were "married" and the third girl was the "husband's" sister. We were chatting it up for about 20 minutes about our dogs, where we lived (they were from NOLA), college, family and the list goes on. The "husband" tells us that her sister came to visit from college and they were so glad to have her but that "parking was a nightmare for her and she had to call and ask her mom if her car would fit into a parking spot near Bourbon Street." The younger sister literally broke down in tears! Right there on the plush white couch, tears streaming and the hiccups were approcahing. It was insane! She stood up and said, "How could you tell them that!?" And she walked off. The "wife" went after her and then came back to make the "husband" and she stayed for a second. She was telling us that the girl was a junior in college, had never been kissed and is so shy and anxious that she constantly breaks down in public. She apologized and went to go sit with the other two girls at another nearby couch where the girl proceeded to cry, no joke, for about 45 minutes. Let me rephrase that, she continued to sob. Out loud. Almost violently. It was so sad and was quite possibly one of the craziest things I have ever seen...And your life would not have been complete had I not added this story to my blog...
