Funny, Just so funny...

If it's not obvious to everyone, I really miss home. My wonderful sister tries her best to help me feel connected to home and all of my family (I have a huge family). It's really sad because right before we moved, my sister had a baby, making me a first time aunt. I love it, except that I feel like I'm missing out on his life. So, here is the picture she sent me this morning of my nephew who she found STANDING in his crib last night.

Isn't he a big boy! Doesn't he look so sweet and innocent?! Well, check out his finger! Yep, he's got his bad boy finger up! He's got his Auntie's attitude alright! Goodness, I love that kid! My sister said she took several pictures and was making such a fuss over him standing that they didn't even notice his finger until she went to send them to me!

Missing Texas

This week work has been so busy and extremely stressful. It really has me missing home. So, I've decided this blog should be dedicated to things I miss about Texas.  Here it goes:

1. My brother. I love this kid so much. He is so funny. I'm just sad because he is now in Jr. High and starting to get too cool for me. It breaks my heart a little...

2. The Galleria. Traffic and all. I hate that there are so few places to shop around here. I did discover the Shreveport mall which has ok shopping.

3. Whole Foods. I really really really want some extremely fresh fruit and veggies.

4. My friends. I really don't get a chance to make any friends with the hours I work and I'm desperate for some out-of-the-office fun.

5. Mexican food. Seriously. I'm three hours from Texas and the Mexican food SUCKS! So don't worry Casey, it's not because your in Germany, it's because you are not in Texas.

6.  The need to dress up. Seriously. Nobody here dresses up. I miss having places that won't allow you in in jeans or flip-flops.

7. Westheimer. For those of you who don't know its a street in Houston. The best road there is. Anything you want, you can find. Seriously, there is the Galleria, Le Petite Cafe, Starbucks, Fogo De Chao, mid-town. Everything! I miss it!

8. Entertainment. There isn't anything to do but gamble here.

9. Happy hour at Sherlocks. We used to go to Sherlocks with a good group of friends for HH every so often. I miss it. See below: The HH Gang.

10. Most of all, my family. Be careful, after looking at these pictures, you'll want my family!

Massive Frustration!

I know it's only Tuesday, but this week already sucks! I'm so sick of working with people who are lazy and who depend on me for way too much! You would not believe the ridiculous requests I get. People will call our office because they have a missed number and ask if I can find the person that called them. I simply respond with a polite, "Um, no." If they didn't leave a message, it probably wasn't that import. If you are too lazy to check your voicemail, I don't want to help you out of sheer principal. Yes, I am that girl.

Since I work with pipe, don't be jealous of my glamours lifestyle, we have to have these things called Mill Test Certificates/Results (MTRs). (*Side Note - MTRs are proof that the pipe has been tested to hold the natural gas that will be shipped through them. It is important because it is our proof that we've done what we can to keep the pipe from exploding) There is a guy at the Houston office who is supposed to send these to us as soon as he gets them, but does he? Nope. He waits until the freaking pipe is delivered knowing that we cannot have our guys unload it without the damn certificates! Then, when I email to get them from him, he gives me crap like, "Oh, I'm pretty sure I sent them, but here you go." Um, I don't think so! This is the most important part of my job so I typically put everything on hold when I get any certificates.

I'm getting so frustrated with these people and I cannot wait to go back to Houston!

On another note, it's cold and rainy here. And I love it! I love when it starts to get cold outside and I anxiously await this time of year!

XOXO,

Weekend Update

Yeah, so know I'm not the likes of Tina Fey, or nearly as funny, but here is my weekend update:

We had so much going on and it has really been a crazy week! The hubs and I have been talking about our options after this job and wether or not we want to go back to Houston or for him to do another field job -- one that I will NOT be participating in. He has an opportunity to do a job in Hoboken, NJ, which is like a 10 minute train ride to NY! My favorite place on earth. This week, he was also offered a really great job back in Houston, we will be spending the next couple of months discussing and weighing our options. I'm all about NY baby!

Friday, after a really rough week, I came home to a great surprise. My give-away from Mojito Maven arrived! See below. It's such a sweet and delicate necklace!

Friday night we got together with our neighbors and went the Louisiana State Fair to see Kevin Fowler. It was a great time with some new and great friends!

Last week when we home to vote, we were able to catch my brothers last football game of the season. He is #89. ! I just love that kid. I know you can't see his face, but for all I know, you could be a 60-year-old man looking for handsome little boys...And he's by far the cutest!

Finally, I've decided that I should learn how to cook. And not just cook out of the box, but really cook. Like, homemade things. Sundays will be my practice days, it is the only day of the week that I don't work. So today's little experiment? Homemade lemon bars. How did they turn out, you ask. Well, I'm sure you could guess by the fact that I'm not posting a picture. Let's just say, I hope I have better luck next week...I sure feel sorry for the hubs!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

XOXO,
