Opportunity Knocks!

Hello Ladies! Ok, here are the photos I promised! Since we are having an impossible time getting our internet hooked up and an even more impossible time "borrowing" internet from our neighbor's wireless, I've decided that I'll just post a picture or two each time I blog. It saves me the 25 minute upload time. The first is a picture of me sitting over the beach on a very large lava-rock. It was gorgeous. The second photo I actually took at this park when we drove the island. (by the way, I have NO idea why this is underlined...)

This turned out to be a really great week for me. As you all know, I'm now interning at Modern Luxury's Houston magazine. It's a really great publication and you should check out the website to see if there is a publication in your town. They mostly produce magazines in larger towns. Anyway, Thursday I went to a pre-party for a Monique Lhuillier trunk show. The store is this absolutely gorgeous little dress boutique called Casa de Novia Bridal Couture. While I was there I ran into the lady in charge of advertising and marketing and who is also publisher for the Houston bridal magazine. You would all love her, she's hilarious and so much fun! She asked if I wanted to tag along to another party at the Audi dealership -- and of coarse I did! The party was a blast! She's one of those people who loves to introduce people so it was great hanging out with her. She's a "connector", like Jill from RHNYC.  HAHA! I absolutely loved her. She introduced me to tons of people, including the editor-in-chief and publisher of our magazines who I had yet to meet. It was all-in-all a really great night for me. I'm really trying to be as involved and aggressive as I can and hope that one day this can turn into a career.

By the way, whoever you are from Crystal Springs -- you should totally comment! I drive through your town twice a week!

XOXO,

I'm Back, I'm Tan & I have pictures of Hawaii!

We are back from our all-too-short trip to Maui! We had a blast but are so completely exhausted. Do you ever feel like you need another vacation just to re-coop from the vacation you just got back from? That's how I feel.

Hawaii was never a place I wanted to go, and it was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, but it was so much fun. Don't get me wrong, driving to the tops of the volcano and looking down was gorgeous, but the water was just, well, eh. I did like it MUCH better than our trip to Jamaica on our honeymoon. We were only offered drugs once and I felt completely safe, unlike in Jamaica. I did not like Jamaica at all. I did like Hawaii though. There were some really beautiful views from almost everywhere you went. The resort we stayed at had the best staff and we had an amazing view from our suite. That's right, our suite! Hawaii has the prettiest sunsets I've ever seen.

Ok, I know none of you want to hear from me as much as you want to see photos, so here they are, however, let me preface this by saying: I know I need to hit the gym. Leave me alone.

This was the night of our anniversary at the Feast of Lele Luau
This is the dessert they prepared for us.
We drove around the island and found this fresh-water area that had a gorgeous waterfall. See the rope swing in the background? I definitely swung from it!
This is Arid Chappell. He is a designer and is co-owner of Maggie Columbe. I bought a gorgeous dress from their shop. They were featured in Modern Luxury Hawaii last month.
Marking our one-year anniversary!

We also ate our cake. I loved our wedding cake. It was so simple and so delicious the first time around and, as gross as it may sound, wasn't horrible to eat now. Other than the fact that I was aware I was eating one-year-old cake.  Well, today marks day 2 of year 2! Tomorrow I'll post some scenic photos from Hawaii so you can see how beautiful it is for yourself!

(I wanted to post more pictures but my stupid wireless internet, you know, that I'm "borrowing" from my neighbor is being a pain!)

XOXO,
