New Look and Lainey's Birthday Part 2!

I am so excited about the new look of my blog! Thanks to the lovely Jenn at Munchkinland Designs for hooking me up big time!

Jenn was super patient with me when it took me almost 3 months to finally get my order going and never called me crazy once. At least not to my face. ;)

And...continuing with Lainey's birthday party! Part Two:

I was so amazed that she actually sat and opened every single present!

Like her mommy, she loves presents!

Lainey's Birthday Party Part 1

We celebrated Lainey's first birthday the weekend before her actual birthday. It was so much fun planning but I was so emotional. I could not believe that my teeny tiny baby was already one.

I really wanted this day to be special, even though I know many will say that she won't remember. That's not what is important. What is important is that this little girl is the best thing to ever happen to me and I wanted a big celebration.

We had her party at Joe's Crab Shack on the Sea Wall in Galveston. It, of course, poured rain the first hour of her You Are My Sunshine party, hence the frizzy hair, but it turned out to be a wonderful day.

Here are the first round of photos.

Food. We had a wonderful selection of fish, shrimp, crab balls, french fries, onion rings, crab nachos, chicken tenders, cheese sticks and tons of dipping sauces!

mommy and baby, sweating and frizzing...

this is Lainey with my best friend. It's eerie how much alike they look.

She cheered the entire time. I was so worried she would hate the party but she enjoyed every single second of it!

Ready to sing

And...she loved the fire!

"Come on, dad! Just let me at it!"

her first taste of cake. Ever.

We had more people turn up that I thought. It is so amazing to be witness to how many people love your child. It makes me feel so blessed that people came out in the monsoon of a storm to celebrate my baby.

So, happy birthday sweet girl!

Playing Catch Up...

Life has been hectic to say the least. We are sleept training. Have you done this? Training a person to sleep sounds so ridiculous and utterly stupid to me. Yet, we have found it completely necessary! My little princess has been in my bed for far too long and has come to rely on me completely for sleep. As in, she won't shut her eyes unless she is on top of me. As sweet as it is, I am trying to get pregnant again and the last thing I want is for her to associate a baby with not being able to sleep with me anymore.

I'm so excited that very soon I will have new blog design! Yay! Hopefully I will have it by next week.

Today I was talking to a friend and realized I have only had four pedicures since Lainey was born. That's like, one a quarter. Unacceptable.

I am happy to report that things in our lives have seemed to slow down. I'm finally recovered from surgery, though still sad about losing our baby, Lainey is recovered from her dog bite, I've come to terms with the dogs being out of the house, my grandpa is doing better, and I've come to the realization that everyone will know someone who cancer will get. My aunt is doing decent but not well. So, things seem to be leveling out a bit. Thank God!

Laura from Cowboy Boots and Baby Booties, you are the winner of my giveaway! Please email me your address and I will send your prize!
