Sleepin' Single in a Double, er Queen Size, Bed...

This a little note to all you military wives and wives whose husbands travel frequently. I so have a new-found respect for you! Bobby has to travel every now and then and I'm left home alone with my girls, the cat and dog. Now, I know you're probably thinking I have this "Oh I miss my husband so much and can't wait to see him!" mentality, but that's so not it. Don't get me wrong, I do miss him but when he's gone, but I have this horrible habit of scaring myself.

I've always had a roommate and have never lived on my own and even when they were gone, I'd do the same thing. Or, I'd just go stay at a friends house or have someone over. I make up noises that I hear and sometimes wish my 10 pound Jack Russell Terrier was a 80 pound German Shepherd! So, the upside, I sleep with the dog at the foot of the bed knowing that she'll bark and growl if she hears anything suspicious, and a gun on each nightstand. So, the mentality I really have is more of a "Shoot first, ask questions later." I am from Texas, after all!

So, to all you army wives and wives of husbands racking up the frequent flyer miles, I don't know how you do it. Maybe you aren't a sissy like me, and I know I am, but if I had  a drink, I'd
so raise a toast to you!

On another note, he does come home tonight, which means no more jumping each time the air conditioner turns on. I think I'm going to get out of my snobby, 55-year-old-woman-in-a-24-year-old-girls-body-attitude and check out the local festival tomorrow. It supposed to be a pretty big deal around here...we shall see.

For the Fam: Here are a few pictures of the house. I'll take more of the upstairs and our bedroom and post those later...

Everything in Louisiana is at the Gas Station...

So I'm all on my own at work today since Hubs abandoned me for work in Houston for the next few days. He should be back late tomorrow night. So, I found myself on my own when it came to lunch...Randomly enough, I had lunch at the casino/gas station/buffet. It was quite the experience. We showed up and the lady escorted us to our table -- it was actually a decent looking place.  My "boss" and I ordered our drinks and decided to take a look at the buffet. Since the salad is OBVIOUSLY salad out of the bag, I felt it was safe. We made our salads and on my way back to the table, I couldn't help but notice that everyone was just sitting around not eating. Once we finished we walked over to where the food was supposed to -- nothing. There was literally cabbage, carrots, rice and gravy.  We waiting to see if they would bring anything out, after twenty-five minutes of talking about books and work, we decided just grab some dessert. As we get to up to leave from our hour and twenty minute lunch (the great thing about grabbing lunch with the "boss" is that she can't get mad when you take longer than you're supposed to) we notice that everyone in the restaurant stood up at once and made a bee-line for the buffet. They finally decided to bring out some food -- and I'm not disappointed I missed it...So, here's to a lunch of bagged salad and banana pudding!

Good news? The guy I work with has decided to take a permanent job in his home town and I will finally get to work!!! Yes, I know I should be thrilled to have a job where I get paid to blog, Myspace and Facebook, but I have to say, I enjoy working. The job still sucks because it's not what I want to do but at least it's something. He's starting handing duties over to me already. So, I'll fill you in on the duties later.

Jeremiah Update: My honey is home! Jen and Derrick got to take the baby home on Monday. They have discovered that his liver is inflamed from damaged cells. They are not sure why or how the cells got damaged and are still researching the results from his biopsy. They gave him a few perscriptions and some new formula and are hoping this is all from an infection that can be easily treated. I'll fill you in when I get more info. Please continue to keep them in your prayers!

XOXO,

What I like About...Well, Me!

I was tagged by Casey to do a randomness survey! Enjoy!

1. Link to the person who tagged you
2. Post the rules to your blog
3. Write 6 random things about yourself
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them
5. Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.

Here are my random things...

1. I've had kidney stones four times. Yep, that's right. And it's quite painful. Only twice did I have to have surgery twice though...Don't ask about that.

2. I am obsessed with New York. I love the energy, the weather, the shopping, Central Park, the food and the fact that my dear Kristin lives there. It's my favorite place.

3. I've always wanted to be a writer. When I was little I thought I would "own" a magazine. Hopefully, the writing part could still happen.

4. Growing up, I hated my hair. Now, it's my favorite physical feature. I don't care if it sounds bad to say that. After spending almost 20 years hating it, I don't feel bad one bit saying that I love my hair.

5. I have the greatest men in my life. My husband, dad, grandpa's (yes, I have lots of grandpas), my nephew and, of course, my brother.

6. I love airports. I love to fly and I love to people watch. I have no idea why, but I've always liked airports...

Now for the tags....I don't read six blogs so...here are the two that I do read, other than Casey's. Hey, I'm new to this, I'll have more soon.

1. Sarah (My cousin who lives too far away in Arizona)
2. Holly (My former and favorite boss)

Home Sweet Home

This weekend I was able to fly home and spend a couple of days with the family. The weekend was definitely not what I expected. It took me much longer to get to Dickinson than I had anticipated, traffic was a nightmare and both my hairdresser and doctor seemed to have nothing to do for the rest of the day so they took their sweet time working on me! The doctor says I'm healing really well. She finally released me to get back in the gym and to start my scar therapy.

Friday, my sister had to take Jeremiah to the emergency room at Texas Children's Hospital at the request of her doctor. Right now, they are saying that his liver is inflammed, hopefully he can be treated with medicine. He has a biopsy today at 9 a.m. This makes me so nervous because they are putting my precious 2month old honey to sleep! They are taking him to the OR but Jen and Derrick will be able to be with him in recovery. Please say a little prayer for Jeremiah and my sister and brother-in-law as well.

Below is a picture of him in the hospital. Take a look at his hand, it looks like a frog! The blue "eyes" are his IV fluids and the green is just the tape they used to keep it from slipping out.

So, now I'm back in Shreveport. The flight back was horrible! I didn't think an hour flight could really be so bad. I got stuck by the wing and it was so loud my iPod couldn't drown out the noise, it was so turbulent that my stomach felt sick for hours after I landed and I was forced to sit next to a four-year-old little terror! He tried to grab both  my phone and ipod out of my hand, he spilled his orange juice everywhere and he kept tapping me and asking questions the entire time! I asked him mom if she wanted to  trade me seats, when she said "no" I should have known what I was in for!

Our furniture has arrived and my WONDERFUL husband made the bed and put up all of my clothes and even organized my side of the closet and my drawers! It was so nice coming home to a clean house!

On another not so nice note: Before 7:20 a.m. I have been called a secretary twice and "lady" three times...really.
