That's what taking a deep breath sounds like, right? Things have started to get crazy all over again. And I am loving it.

Saturday I spent the day with the rest of the Junior League leadership team preparing to wrap up our year end. It was such a good day, I love spending time with my JL girls. After that, B, Lainey and I spent the rest of the day on the island eating and driving around the beach.

Sunday was an extra special and fun day. I will be a bridesmaid in her wedding in September and I am so excited. Sunday we spent the day checking out her wedding venue, suites, and went to a bridal show. It was so much fun.

Last week I started a real workout routine and work. The same week. I am excited to have a few jobs on the horizon and so blessed that I can work while I'm at home with my little cutie.

I took Lainey to get her pictures taken last week. They came out really cute. I ended up buying the CD so I could have the rights the photos. Here's a little preview.

As I mentioned, I am back in a workout routine so I need suggestions for good running shoes...Apparently my feet also grew during pregnancy and mine no longer fit..

Ok, no I'm not. But I did get a new camera and I am so excited! Yesterday, I took the plunge and purchased this little beauty.

I am so ridiculously excited! I had to order it and it won't be in until Friday! Grrr! But, the place I ordered from was so great. They price matched Amazon's price, which is close to $100 cheaper than anywhere else, they gave me a 40% discount on an additional lens and they are giving me and a guest 4 free photography classes. Sweet deal, right?

I can't wait to start taking pictures of my Lainey bug. She is going to Babies R Us to take advantage for their $6.99 package on Tuesday for her 3 month photos but this way, I can get really decent pictures of her more often.

Since I sprung for a new camera, B decided to spring for a new surfboard. Perfect timing since we'll be heading to South Carolina for our anniversary in March (4 years!!!!) and Costa Rica this summer. And hopefully New York in fall...just sayin'.

He's out surfing right now...and hopefully with my new camera I'll be able to get some good pics of him as well!

Hey Y'all! B is watching football while I sit here on the computer researching cameras. I am in the process of researching and purchasing the Canon Rebel T3...Any thoughts?

I desperately need a new camera. I have a Fuji, which works ok but I want an upgrade. I found a place that is offering me a really good deal on the camera and a second lens.

Today we took Lainey to church...it was so wonderful to be back. We literally haven't been since the end of September!

Oh...so random...My feet grew a 1/2 size with pregnancy...Whaaa?!?! Guess I gotta buy new shoes...Dang. ;)

Mother's Helper...Let's face it, sometimes it's just hard.

Sometimes being a stay at home mom is hard. It is the best job in the entire world. I wouldn't trade it, but it's hard. You can't ask for a break without sounding like you don't want to be around your little one but at the same time, it's nearly impossible to get anything done.

Moms who work think you are wasting your college degree and other stay at home moms judge every decision you make, like since you are a stay at home mom, your child should be perfect.

I'm still struggling to find thebalance. Is it ok to let Lainey play on her exercise mat alone while I iron clothes or clean bottles? I'm sure it's fine, but the haunting guilt does nothing to help me feel that it is, in fact, ok.

Not to mention working out. That, itself, has been a major task.

I try to tackle as much as I can while she's napping but she's a pretty poor napper. I'm lucky to get a 30 minute nap out of her. But, she gives me about 4-30 minute naps a day...Hence, the difficulty actually getting to work out.

If it were possible, I would spend every second of every single day snuggling that little cutie, but I know that isn't good for either one of us.

Taking a time out when B gets home is difficult as well. He works a lot and long hours so when is home, I like to spend time together as a family.

Enter: The Mother's Helper.

This is something I first heard of on Real Housewives of New York City. I remember thinking Luann was a lazy parent for having a Mother's Helper. Oh how quick we are to judge...

Well, I have actually hired a Mother's Helper/babysitter. A high school student from my church will be coming by three days a week, starting today, to help out. She will come by after school, actually during Lainey's nap time, to keep an eye on my bug so I can go for a run or get in a workout and do a few things around the house. She will be here for approximately 2 hours.

My goal is to have this be Lainey's nap time so that I don't have to spend too much time away from her. However, if she wakes up, I don't have to immediately hop off the treadmill to attend to her. Our helper can do that. She's a wonderful girl, and I actually used to be her babysitter! And that makes me feel old...

Many of you know B and I are taking a trip to Charleston, SC in March for our fourth wedding anniversary, followed by a trip to Costa Rica in July.

We are SO excited, I can hardly stand it! My mind is beginning to rest easy at the thought of Costa Rica since I've looked into the places we are staying. Highly rated resorts do a lot to make this girl feel safe!

However, anytime I'm preparing for a big vacation, I always get the urge to just travel! So, I thought I'd share a few other places I'd love to visit.

I realize Iceland is a strange one but I randomly saw a commercial for Iceland and have been obsessed with it ever since. No clue why. I honestly know nothing about the place other than it looks beautiful!

So, if you could visit anywhere, where would you go?

28 things for my 28th year

Today, I am 28-years-old. This last year flew by so very quickly, I feel like I blinked and it was gone. You can read how I celebrated my 27th birthday here.

The most wonderful thing happened last year, the birth of my Lainey Bug and while this year could never compare, I am determined to make it a good one! So, I've decided to come up with a list of everything I want to do in my 28th year.

I want to continue to be the best momma I can be to sweet baby girl. She has made everything in this world so much better for me and I owe it to her to give her the best life I can.
Read more. I love to read but rarely do it. When we lived in Louisiana, which is actually when and why I started this blog (so family could keep track of us) I was reading a book a week it seemed! Last year, I think I ready 3 books. I have a new Kindle so I'm determined to read a book a month. Hopefully, reading with an infant is quite a challenge.
Write more. Article one submitted for the year this morning so, so far so good.
Spend time with my husband like I did before we had a baby. I know that I give all of my attention to Lainey, which she deserves. But B does deserve attention as well. I've noticed that once Lainey is asleep, I choose to still hold her rather than put her in her bed and snuggle with B.
Spend less money. Yep, I just said that.
Be a better friend. If you read this post, you will know that I have decided to let go of some friendships and put more energy into those that are really valuable and I am determined to be the best friend that I can be.
Be healthy. I am generally a healthy person. I work out and eat a pretty decent diet. But I want to be healthier. I want to get back into my workout routine that I abandoned with pregnancy and eat more veggies.
Get a website up and running where I can show off my print design and freelance work, which will hopefully lead to more work, accomplishing #3. :)
Learn to take it easy. I put a lot of pressure on myself to get things done. I often over-commit. I want to learn to take things as they come and handle things with grace when I can't get it all done. Like yesterday, I nearly crumbled when my lack of sleep had me doing silly things like trying to heat Lainey's bottle in cold water.
Try to be more sensitive. I am a bit sarcastic and very matter-of-fact. Which sometimes comes off as a little cold. I am not surrounded by others who share that same sentiment.
Volunteer more. I am a member of Junior League and I absolutely love it. I want to offer myself more to the League and the community. I am currently the editor of the newsletter and have yet to put in one hour of community service in this League year (August-May is the League year)...See what I mean about over-committing?
Finish my gallery wall. I have a tendency to put things like that off. I am very excited about it and have most of the pieces to put the wall together. I just gotta do it!
Spend more time with my grandparents. I adore my grandparents and I want Lainey to know them and love them like I do. I will be devastated when they are no longer here and I don't want to regret not having enough time for them.
Dig more into the Word. As in the Bible. I am desperately missing church. We haven't been in almost 16 weeks! We will go back this Sunday for Lainey's first Sunday visit. I want to grow in my walk and to strengthen my relationship with God. After all, He is the only reason I have all of the blessings that I do.
Write a sassy, smart-ass book that will never get published and piss everyone off, but at least I will have gotten the snark out of my system. I may even send it to Random House and frame the letter they send me in return telling me how crazy I am.
Sing and dance with my baby girl at least once a day. My grams used to sing and dance with me and I loved it. Some of my fondest memories are of us having tea parties and singing her made-up songs.
Participate in a run/walk for a cause. I have a dear friend who's mom has MS and two years ago I did the MS 5K run/walk in her honor. It was such a wonderful experience and her mom was so overjoyed. I selfishly want that feeling of doing that for someone I love again.
Get a concealed hand-gun license. I own two guns. In Texas, it's very legal. We use them for home protection but I want my license. Plus, I think the education will be great for me.
Go to the beach more. I live so close to the beach and B goes to the beach all the time. I never go. Why not enjoy it, right?
Reconnect with at least one old friend. Sure, I'm editing friendships, but there is no reason to check in on an old friend and just say hello.
Clip coupons. See #5.
Learn how to use my Cricut. It has barely been taken out of the box.
Sell something. Maybe something I make with my Cricut, maybe my sassy book, maybe I'll start selling Stella and Dot. Who knows, I'll figure it out as I go.
Read more blogs and blog more. In other words, give blogger more of all that free time I've got...
Do something drastic with my appearance. Not necessarily shaving my head, but maybe highlights, piercing my nose again, a hair cut...something.
Take my pups on more walks. I get so consumed in my day that I've let the simple joy of walking my pups go out the door. They enjoy it, I enjoy it, Alaina enjoys it. Yet, it has fallen to the back burner and B ends up doing it the majority of the time when he gets home from work.
Edit my friends on Facebook. I have way too many friends. Honestly, I don't delete most of them for the sheer fact that I might be the nosiest person I know. It's time to cut that list.
Enjoy every day of this year. Learn to see the happy in even the rough days and realize that no matter what happens, I am extremely blessed, loved and happy.

Random Ramblings with a video

Not much to post about today. Just a few thoughts I've had that I'd like to get out, I guess.

Tomorrow I will be 28 years old. And I'm actually excited about this.
I have officially submitted my first article of the year to my editor. About cupcakes. Sweet.
Last night I couldn't sleep because all I wanted to do was stare at Lainey. She is growing way too quickly and sometimes I feel like there just isn't enough time in the day to spend with her.
If I was extremely wealthy, like a billionaire, I would probably have 5 kids. No joke.
I told Bobby I have two ideas for books. But I'm pretty sure most of America couldn't handle the level of sarcasm they would be written with. Except for maybe the Chelsea Handler crowd.
The thought of taking Lainey to Costa Rica is starting to freak me out. But I'm still uber excited.

Today Lainey is having a playdate with two cute little boys. Already.
I miss my sister. Lainey was sick, then my nephew was sick. Makes it hard for us to get together.
I'm still convinced Lainey looks like me.

Home Decor

If I could afford it, every single square inch of my house would be decorated by Pottery Barn. I love it! However, since I cannot afford that, I pick up things here and there as I shop.

Today I thought I would share with you some of the fun things I've picked up lately and since I posted the progress on Alaina's nursery, I thought I'd share the final product as well.

I've had this vase for years but I picked up these branches from Target for .68 cents each! I got them yesterday. Just a deal I couldn't pass up!

This was actually a gift from my mom. She bought this frame like 30 years ago. Once I had Alaina's newborn photos taken, she framed one of me and her and put it in this old frame. I love this.

I don't have a lot of things to pass down to my kids, my house burn down when I was 12 and we lost everything. So things like this, I treasure!

I picked this little bowl vase up from Hobby Lobby for $2! Crazy, right? I love it. It's a really deep plum color.

I also picked up this vase from Hobby Lobby. I think it was like $7 and I got the flowers when they were half off. I love a good deal!

Last weekend I was digging through a box of my baby stuff, to prove that Lainey looks more like me than B, and I found this photo. This is my mom and her older sister staring out the window of the house they grew up in in Galveston, Texas.

I bought these stems from Hobby Lobby as well...half off, of course. I just stuck them in an old pitcher I had around the house.

And now for Alaina's room

I bought this decal to put above her crib and I just love it! The quality is so good ! It is really thick and looks painted on but so, so easy to apply.

I got this piece from Babies r Us. I love it! I'm not typically a mobile fan so this was a great alternative. Plus, I put it in the corner as opposed to directly above her crib.

We also bought a few more panels for her windows from Target.

Chicken Spaghetti Ripoff

My aunt has always been a really good cook. Like the kind of woman who could go into the kitchen, pull stuff a pantry and throw together a fabulous meal.

I am not that woman.

My aunt always made the best chicken spaghetti. It was one of my favorite meals! When I was in college I attempted to make it based off of what it looked like...And it actually came out pretty good.

Nothing like spaghetti, but really good! It's one of B's favorites, it's so easy to cook and best of all...it only requires one pot!

This is what we had for dinner last night so I thought I'd share the recipe with you all.

1. Boil chicken (I use chicken strips because they boil really quickly and are easy to shred)

2. Remove the chicken from the pot and use the same water to boil your spaghetti noodles

3. Shred your chicken while you are waiting for the noodles to boil

4. Once the noodles are done, strain them.

5. In the same pot, combine noodles, shredded chicken, cream of mushroom and Rotel.

*I do this part differently every time! I usually use a can and a half of COM and one full can of Hot Rotel. We like ours spicy so I will typically take a second can of Rotel and drain the juice and just use the chunks.

6. Add in a handfull of shredded cheese...I use the Mexican mix. Because, let's face it, I am a little bit Mexican.

7. I usually serve it with garlic bread...B likes it with tortillas as well.

Dear Lainey,

Today you are 3 months old. Wow, where has the time gone?! Each and every day I feel more blessed to have you in my life. I promise that I will hold you and love on you as long as you will let me. And even then, I may fight you for a big squeeze.

You are incredible and an obvious reminder that we serve an increible and loving God.

You have recently discovered your hands and they are always in your mouth! You have also started reaching for toys and you are so much fun to watch.

You are very, very ticklish and I love hearing your big belly laughs! Everyday before bathtime mommy tickles the heck out of you because your laugh is the sweetest sound I have every heard.

You look just like me, to me. And you look just like daddy, to daddy.

Sometimes I am amazed at how much love you have brought out in me. I didn't know I could love this much.

You are growing quickly, stretching out your 0-3 mths clothes and fitting snugly in 3 mths. Soon we will have to 3-6! Right now you are getting over a tummy bug (and heaven help them if I find out who gave it to you!) and at your doctor's appointment, we found out you now weigh 11 pounds 10 ounces. You are currently in the 40th percentile for height and weight. In other words, you are perfect.

You are sleeping great through the night, usually from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. You are only a somewhat decent napper but hey, I'll take whatever sleep you want to give me!

You are currently eating 5 ounces every 3 hours. Mommy tried her hardest to breastfeed but it just didn't work out.

You, my child, are absolutely incredible and so, so loved. You are my entire world.

A Year In Review...In Photos

Wow, I cannot believe this year is already over. I guess being pregnant the entire year (at least that's what it felt like!) helped it fly by extra quickly.

Last year we rung in the New Year with a few friends. Nothing too crazy because I was not so secretly hoping I was pregnant. I wasn't.

The weekend after the New Year, I celebrated my 27th birthday with a big surprise party. Way to go, B! This was such a fun night and I was so happy to have all of my friends show up for me!

And two weeks after that...I got this:

We celebrated other birthdays with friends, and I pretended to be on medicine so they wouldn't be suspicious as to why I was skipping out on extra cheap, delicious beer

Valentine's Day was spent with me hovering over the toilet so there will be no pictures of that...

Celebrated Lainey's first Thanksgiving and welcomed the 4th generation into our family.

And had so much fun with my cousins on Thanksgiving

Had our first night out and bid on and won a trip to Costa Rica

Took Lainey to visit Santa...Silly girl asked Santa for a baby brother or sister...

Sent my 15 year old brother off to Cotillion...handsome boy, he is!

And we celebrated our first Christmas as a family of 3!

And we just arrived home from our first road trip...

Something she obviously wasn't too thrilled about...

Tonight we will celebrate the ending of the best year of my life as a family. The way it should be.

If you are a mom, you will totally feel me on this. If you are not a mom, believe me, this will happen to you.

I had so many ideas of what I was going to do and how I was going to them before Alaina came and then, she arrived and all of that got shot to, well, you know where.

I swore she would sleep in her crib by 6 weeks, well, she's 12 weeks and still in momma's room!

I swore I would never sleep with her and we often nap together.

I swore I would have a strict schedule but, who am I kidding, the kid knows better than I do if she's hungry or not!

I also swore that I would take pictures every month on her monthly birthday. And so far, so good! However, I wish I had ordered some of these cuties to make the pics a bit cuter.

Travelin' Tales and Giveaway Winner

We are still making our way through Texas visiting B's family. We are currently in San Marcos, Texas. Does anyone know what that means? SHOPPING!! San Marcos is home to the Tanger remium Outlets and ohemgee, it might just be my favorite thing in Texas. I am so excited because we are getting a Tanger Outlet about 15 minutes from our house in just about a year. Can.Not.Wait!

The Lainey Bug is doing great! She's been a bit fussy, but we got into San Marcos late last night and she went down about 10 p.m. and slept until 9 a.m. Thank you, Jesus! I think Christmas may have been a bit much for her and we just added on with this little Texas roadtrip.

Despite it all, she's hanging in there and being a trooper! We are headed out today to do some shopping and have a nice little lunch, then we will spend the evening visiting with B's family. I always love coming to San Marcos. I love this part of Texas and, if you aren't from here, you should visit. There is so much to do here in town and more just an hour or so in every direction.

So, remember my post about the Kindle, Nook or plain 'ol books? Well, I think I've decided on a Kindle Fire. My birthday is next Friday, January 6 so I think we may just go ahead and get it today.

Do you do this? We never wait until Christmas or birthdays for our gifts. We also never surprise each other. We tell each other what we want and we just go buy it. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it, but eh, at least I get what I want, right?

Woohoo! I found Internet! :)

Wow. The holidays blew past us in whirl of toys, Santa visits, family and sleepless nights. But overall, Lainey’s first Christmas was a success.

And trust me friends, this child had to be on Santa’s good list because she cleaned up!

We had a great time visiting with family but it seriously wore us out. My poor baby girl has been so overstimulated that she is still sleepy and fussy.

Daddy and I also got some great gifts. I got a Cricut. Have y’all seen this thing? It’s pretty awesome! Like I said a few posts ago…I am not crafty, but they are sure making it easy to get crafty now days. Once we get done celebrating the holidays, that’s right, we aren’t finished, I’ll make a few cute things and post them on here along with whether or not I like it!

Yesterday we embarked on a trip of bravery. We headed south to spend few days with B’s family for the holidays, with baby in tow! We managed most of the trip well, with only one meltdown. Other than that, she was a trooper and did great! I rode in the back seat with her to make things a little easier. More on that when we get home.

Today, I wanted to talk about towels. Yes, towels. I didn’t actually get much bath stuff at my showers so I bought all of the towels myself and picked the wrong ones!

I started off with the Babies R Us thin, hooded towels. Well, let me put it to you bluntly. They suck. Big time. They hold water without actually absorbing it and they do nothing to warm up my freezing little baby.
The towels we really like are the really thick hooded ones. Koala Baby Hooded Towels are a big time favorite of ours. They are a little bit pricey but not too much more and it’s well worth the extra couple of dollars.

If you’re looking for something cuter, try Sweet Emeline on Etsy. She hand embroiders the most gorgeous hooded towels for little ones! Her towels are soft, absorbent and quick drying!

Today my best friend came down from Dallas to have a little Christmas visit with me and Alaina. We had such a fun time catching up...for almost 6 hours! Gee, I love her.

Hanging out with friends like her makes me realize, in my wise old age of 27, almost 28, that I place a different value on my friendships that I had in years past.

I no longer feel the need to "chase" friendships, you know, those "friends" that you put so much effort into calling, emailing and reaching out to with no reciprocation. G and I have been friends for almost 14 years and, as we say, have been long distance for nearly 11 years. Despite that, we remain connected. We call each other, visit each other and play an active role in each others lives.

Friendship is not convenient. But it is what you make it.

As I near my 28th birthday, I feel like I've come to a turning point. I'm deciding which friendships I need to invest in the most. Those are the friendships I count on to be there 25 years from now. I know, as heartbreaking as it is, that not all of my friends will be around in that time.

At this point in my life, I don't need an active social calendar with mundane, inconsistent friendships. I need and want those who want to be there despite any and everything. Sure, an occasional lunch with a friend or acquaintance is great!

I am willing to do what it takes to make those friendships work. I will not continue to call friends who don't return calls. I will not continue to throw showers and attend parties for friends who cannot bother to do the same for me, or at least to show up for my life's major events.

I'm too old and I don't have the time.

But I will go above and beyond for those who love me and support me. For those who are happy for me, I will celebrate in their every happiness.

The strange thing is, I am completely ok with it. I am fine with phasing people out of my life. Not to sound callous or snarky, or like an episode of Friends, but I am set to begin the official phase out.

So, what kind of friend are you?"Sometimes we expect more from others because we would be willing to do that much for them."

Regifting...Yes or No?

Such an ugly word this time of year, but be honest do you regift?

I will admit that I have. And I will again.

I think the trick to regifting is that the gift still has to hold meaning and be something that the recipient would actually want.

For example: My mom got a Chanel clutch from her well-to-do boss. My mom would prefer a power tool. Her daughter (ME!!!) was the proud regiftee. I mean, it actually came with a certificate of authenticity and everything!

Technically this wasn't a regift as she just asked if I wanted it, but it would have made a wonderful regift, right!? Be honest, you would have accepted it in a heartbeat!

That said, I think that you should always add a little something else to the item you are passing along.

I was give a bottle of perfume from Bath and Body Works, however, with a newborn, I'm not wearing perfume. So, for Christmas I put together a little "pamper" gift for my younger cousin who is in junior high and who I know would love it! I used the perfume, added two bottles of VS body spray that I purchased for her during the semi-annual sale, a brush, some girly hair pins, a lip gloss and a purse mirror all from Target...for less than $15.

See, it makes sense for the one receiving the gift.

Another thing I always regift is wine. I looove wine, but I am not a fan of Merlot or Cabernet. So, anytime I get a bottle, it often gets taken to other events as a hostess gift.

Obviously, as a new mom, I recently had lots of baby showers. One of those showers was a diaper shower. I also recently hosted a baby shower. At my diaper shower I received a lot of Huggies diapers...which didn't work for us. For some reason, they never fit Alaina the way they should. We are a Pampers family. At the shower I hosted, the momma-to-be was requesting Huggies. So, I regifted a box of 96 Huggies. And diapers ain't cheap! However, I would never give her that alone. I also purchased her changing pad and two covers, as well as an outfit. So, for a $90 gift, I only paid about $60. Works for everyone, right?

So, yes, you should always be grateful for every gift you receive, and believe me, I am extremely grateful anytime anyone thinks of me, or my precious little one. But there is no reason for money to go to waste, right?

Product Review and Awesome Giveaway!

Hey there friends and readers. If you've been reading my blog you know that I am a new mommy. Could it be more obvious? ;)

As a new mommy, I love documenting every second of my little one's life! I constantly have a camera in her face and I love sharing her pictures with others. I can be creative, but I am far from crafty. I am not a scrapbooker. In fact, I kinda hate it. I hate the mess. I hate the time it takes to put together one single page. It's not for me.

But I love working on the computer; I'm a fan of InDesign, Quark, iStudio...all of that wonderful electronic "stuff". And I love taking pictures and I love being able to show them off.

Well, last week I was asked to do my first product review. I was both excited and nervous. I mean, what if I hated the product? Well, I didn't! I love it! This product is RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!

Have you heard of My Memories ? To be honest with you, I hadn't. But girl I went to college with always posted digital scrapbooks of her and her kiddos and I always wondered how she could create such cuteness.

So, last weekend I downloaded a version of the program and got to work.

Likes:

The program is a BREEZE to figure out. I am used to more complex programs like InDesign and such but this program would work for anyone who is a beginner to a more advanced digital design fan. A big perk for me is that I didn't have to read a lot of instructions to figure it out. I hate instructions. :)

I love that there a really cute, free downloads to create a scrapbook. Like I said, I am not typically a fan of scrapbooking and all of the work that goes into it but this makes it so much easier and quicker. There are also templates you can purchase but I appreciate, as someone trying to watch her budget, that they are extremely reasonably priced. I've seen some ranging from .99 to $2.99.

You can also add video and music to your pages and the program is compatible with Mac or PC computers. Big time bonus for this Mac girl!

There are several themes to choose from and I love that you can use it to create other things like invitations.

I blurred our last name and church location for privacy.

I could have printed this page out on square card stock for at Office Max. Seriously. The last baby shower I threw, I spent $56 on invitations! This would have been a great cost saver...And the best part? It took me about 15 minutes to put this together.

I also created a little starter scrapbook of Lainey.

I love that there are so many templates to choose from! You can also add music and video to your pages.

Dislikes:

Really the only things I disliked were

1) The program took forever to download. Like, so long I thought it would be one of those programs that freezes often. Rest assured, I've spent about 7-8 hours playing on the program and it has yet to freeze. The program is rather large so, if you purchase or win it, be sure you are in the best area of your house for internet connection and be sure to have your screensaver disabled. That tripped me up.

2) I could not figure out how to upload images from iPhoto. However, on the website there are "classes" you can take to get to know the program a little better...So, I'm signing up!

Mommy Savers

As it happens in the celebrity circles, so it happens in real life as well. Everyone I know is either pregnant or has just recently had a baby!

Even though I am a very new momma, I often get asked advice on my favorite products and things I enjoy and work for Lainey.

(And let me preface this by saying this is what works for our family, you may hate it.)

So, I've decided to do a series of blog posts on our favorite things baby related.

This week's edition: babywearing.

I am a huge fan of babywearing. I didn't think I would be but thanks to a random girl in Target, I was talked into registering for the Moby. And I am so glad that I listened.

When we first brought Lainey home, she was a fussbucket. I thought the child had colic. But with a little lovin' and a lot of wearin', she gradually became a much easier baby.

She seemed more relaxed and it was much easier to get her to sleep.

Another bonus? No grubby stranger (or unwanted family) fingers all over my newborn. I love the bond it seemed to create. Since I had such difficulties breastfeeding, this seemed to help with the closeness we both wanted.

Here are a few of the products we've given a shot:

Santa came early to our house with the Maya Ring Sling Wrap. It's chic when compared to other slings/wraps which can be bulky and plain ugly. I ordered the olive green sling and I like, not love it.

It may be that I am still getting used to it but the ring hurts my shoulder when I wear it for a while. It is very convenient though and very, very easy to use. I love this for trips to the grocery or to the mall. It is very easy to remove, put on, and get the baby in and out.

I also love that this can be used for twins, not that I have that challenge, and comes with a very detailed DVD on how to use the product in various ways.

The Maya Ring Sling can be purchased on http://www.mayawrap.com/ for $74.95. I purchased mine, new, on Amazon for $65 though. Hey, I 'm a new mom and I gotta pinch pennies where I can.

The Moby. This was my lifesaver. I liked it so much, I went out and bought another one. The Moby is extremely comfortable for both Lainey and myself. She loves to snuggle up in it!

It took a few trial runs before I felt safe putting her in it but let me tell you friends, this is safe! I couldn't get great details from the instructions that come with the Moby, but the videos on YouTube give great detailed directions. I watched several videos to learn several new carries to get us through the stages of growth that seem to happen way too quickly.

The Moby is great for when we walk the dogs or when she was younger and we would have a particularly fussy day. This is a favorite because it is comfortable to wear over an extended period of time. It makes getting things done around the house possible. I also like that I can leave her legs and head out to get the cool air, or I can cover her head and legs to keep them warm and/dry.

The worst thing about it...This bad boy is a freaking sauna! It gets so hot! Great for the winter or cooler days...not so much for a Texas summer. Since it gets so warm, and I have a hot-natured, sweaty baby, I have to wash it often. Which is fine. I throw it in with her clothes and use baby detergent. Another down side, it's more complicated when running errands if you aren't comfortable with it. I can put it on quickly and easily now but when I first started using it, it took way too long!

The Moby will stretch as you wear it more and more but will shrink back to it's original size once washed.

The Moby can be purchased at Babies R Us and Target and is about $35-$55 depending on the one you choose and where you shop.

This is the Infantino Balance ergo carrier. And this bad boy is complicated! I honestly have yet to figure out how to get it on. I know this is what I will want to use when we head to Costa Rica next year but I'm going to have to get the engineer husband to figure this one out. I seems very secure and like it would distribute the weight really evenly for comfort but Heaven help me if I can ever figure this out.

Easy Peasy Holiday Treat

This is the easiest treat EVER...Yummy and quick. Give a shot and let me know what you think.
1 lb jar of lightly salted dry roasted peanuts
1 lb jar of unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1 12 oz semi sweet chocolate morsels
1 12 oz white morsels
1 lb package of white almond bark (this is where the hammer comes in)
Pour peanuts in the crockpot
Add morsels and vanilla bark (make sure you beat the hell out of the almond bark - because you want to break it up into decent sized pieces so it will melt)
Cover and turn on LOW setting for 1 hour and 15 minutes.....remember LOW.....go read a book, dust your baseboards, bath the dog.....and come back once your timer goes off.....stir with a large spoon covering all of the peanuts.....spoon out on wax paper and WALAH

Kindle vs. Nook vs. The Real Thing...

Over the last few years I've managed to hold firm to my good old fashioned books. I love books. I save them. I don't even like to let people borrow them because I'm always afraid I won't get them back. I'm like a book hoarder. I have a beautiful bookcase that I store them in so that it doesn't look as messy as it could.

However, lately, I've been thinking that I might like an e-reader. What do you think? Do you have one? Which do you have and why do you love it/hate it?

Which has a better selection of books?
Who has cheaper books?

I've only really looked into the Kindle and will look more into the Nook but I wanted some actual opinions.

So, dear friends, is it worth it? I know I can get a Kindle for only $79, so if I don't like it, it won't be that big of a deal. I'm a little more hesitant to spend the $199 on something like the Kindle Fire. Which, makes me lean more towards the Kindle, just because of the price...

Oh, decisions, decisions.

Cookies...the perfect way to loose the baby weight

This is the time of year to break out all of the holiday traditions and one of my favorites always falls the week before Christmas...baking with my grams. We have done it since I was a little girl and I still look forward to it every. single. year.

I tried to remember to take pictures, but, as usual, I am terrible!

Mommy's First Night Out...and I hit it BIG!

Saturday was our first night out without the little lady. It was hard, but so much fun. My mom stayed at my house to have a girls night in with my Lainey bug while B and I headed off to the Junior League Holiday Ball.

This year's theme was Moonlight Over Manhattan and the committee did a fantastic job. We definitely enjoyed our night in the Little Apple.

This is before we headed out.

Since it's all for a fantastic cause, B and I did a little bidding at the live and silent auctions and brought home two great prizes. The first was a silent auction basket filled with lots of baby goodies. It was wrapped gorgeously but I unfortunately tore into the wrapping before getting a picture...so, here's what was inside.

Today, my daughter is wearing a onesie with a cat on it...I'm a dog person. But we use what's free :)

Our house is finally decorated and the holiday season is upon us. AWOOHOO!!

I love the holiday season and everything that goes along with it! Friends from out of town, family, parties, decorations...all of it! So, I thought I'd share a few pics of what we've been up to lately

This is Lainey visiting with her cousins, Jeremiah and Jameson. They aren't always so sure about her but they were loving on her yesterday! It was so sweet. I just love those boys and I'm hoping since Lainey doesn't have a big brother, they will protect her when she gets bigger :)

I just don't have the time and, honestly, I would rather spend that time with my Lainey Bug.

So...enter the dramatic hair cut.

This is what my hair looks like now...

Thursday I have an appointment to get the Lob...Or the long bob. Think Nicole Richie post baby.

I had this haircut a few years ago and I loved it! It was high maintenance because I had to get it cut every 4-ish weeks but it was so easy on a daily basis. Long enough to pull back...short enough that I could blow dry and straighten (my curly hot mess) in under 30 minutes.

Right now, I average an hour to fix my hair.

I seriously love my long hair but I don't have an hour to fix it. And I am the girl who sinks into a temporary state of depression when I don't look ready for the day.

So...opinions?

If you're anything like me, you are on Facebook for three reasons:

1. To stay in the know with friends who live in far away places.
2. Because your nosy.
3. Because you get a kick out of the cracked out things people say.

How many friends do you have on Facebook? I'm pushing 500! B asks me all the time why I accept every friend request I get (just about) and here's why:

In high school I was a tad snobby. Just a tad. So in an effort to prove to people how much I've changed, I accept their friend request. Would I talk to them in Target? Probably not, I'd say I'm more apt to hide behind a rack of clothes. Hey, I said it's an effort!

Anyway, on to why I don't delete my Facebook account completely...the cracked out things people say. Seriously, I get a kick out of the stuff people are willing to share.

You know, those who complain about what an ass they are married to...
Those who talk about being high...or wasted...
Those who tell us all how miserable their lives are...

It's not that I want this for these people. I just can't believe they would share it!

Also, dear Facebook friends, not everything is epic. Look up the word. Because I'm pretty sure your dinner tonight was not epic.

A Pinterest Interst

First of all, thank you all for your sweet comments, tweets and emails. I will post more about our birth story and my sweet little lady since you have asked but I would like to take some time to put some thought into it all.

So I'm a little late in the Pinterest game...Ok, ok, very late. I get that. When I first logged on, I honestly didn't get the appeal, now, I have to say, I get it. I don't understand it, but I get it.

I've started two boards and I wanted to share them with you all. But I have no idea how. I tried to copy and paste the html but that was unsuccessful.

This can be taken two different ways...As in, I'm here. Back from, well, wherever I've been. And even better, my sweet little Alaina is here!

The last 8 to 12 weeks have just been crazy! I was put on bed rest about two weeks before I went into labor, had an insanely long labor that ended in c-section, had my beautiful baby girl, went through the two toughest weeks of my life as we all adjusted to each other, and have spent the last 8 weeks and 2 days absolutely more in love than I ever thought possible.

Things are getting more normal (or scheduled I should say) so I'm hoping to get back to a few things I enjoy, like blogging.

What I've Learned

Yesterday I mentioned in my post that being pregnant has taught me a lot about myself and other people and I thought I'd share some of my insights and new-found wisdom with you all. Just remember, every pregnancy is different and so we all will react differently to any given situation, this is just my experience.

1. Never tell a pregnant woman that she looks small. We are worried enough and do not need to worry that our baby has stopped growing. Your comments on appearance should always be that she looks great!

2. Never tell a pregnant woman that she looks huge. We know we are huge but there is a baby in there and that is what is supposed to happen. Again, just tell her she looks great.

3. If you want to touch her belly, ask first and remember that you would never touch a non-pregnant person's belly so please do not linger. Give it a quick pat, rub and then remove your hand. I repeat, unless you are the spouse or she has asked you to feel the baby move, do. not. linger.

4. Don't make us feel guilty. about anything. Being pregnant, eating ice cream. Just support us.

5. Pregnancy hormones are real. I was a doubter and most people around me have made it through the last 8 months relatively unscathed, however, I assure you, when we cry because the DVR did not record the last 30 seconds of Pretty Little Liars, to us, in that tragic moment, there is nothing worse. And we aren't faking it.

6. A good husband can make or break your pregnancy experience. My husband has been phenomenal. I cannot say enough good about this man. He has been my biggest supporter, cheerleader and encourager throughout this entire process. He has missed 2 doctor's appointments -- one because I had a little scare, and one because he couldn't get off of work -- he cooks, cleans, hired me a maid, walks the dogs so I don't have to get out in this heat, rubbed my...everything, taken me out for silly things like frosty's and birthday cake ice cream, worries for me and takes on any little burden I might have. He has been incredible. In the times where I doubt myself, he never has.

7. Buy off the registry. I learned this when I was getting married, actually, but it's a great lesson to always remember. I will have to dedicate a post to some of the silly gifts that I've gotten. My poor grandmother probably wasted nearly $100 on the most hideous clothes that I will NEVER put my daughter in. I would honestly rather her have not bought anything and saved her money. Yes, I know this sounds selfish, but I can't wait to show you some of the things she purchased.

8. Baths are ok to take and will be your best friend. Not everything you read is set in stone. I have been taking baths since the beginning of my pregnancy because my morning sickness was so bad that if I took a shower, the water hitting my face would make me throw up. No joke. Now, I take baths because my body hurts so freaking bad it the best alternative and it really does make me feel so much better!

9. Things will hurt that you didn't even know you had. My advice, keep Tylenol, Coca Cola (for the headaches) and a good chiropractor on hand.

10. The "sleep now" philosophy is a lie. Or a really cruel joke. You will not sleep. You will be tired and achy. You will be so tired that you will cry but you will be unable to sleep. Nobody warned me about this, they just filled my head with "sleep now" and "get all the rest you can". Yes, us first time moms really have no idea what we are getting into but most of us aren't stupid and we know our lives and sleeping patterns will change. But if you really wanted to do us a favor, you would tell us that sleep goes away before the baby gets here. I haven't slept through the night since March (seriously) and from Monday to Wednesday night of this week, I slept for about 6 hours combined. It's not because I'm uncomfortable, it's because pregnancy insomnia is a cruel, cruel B. (this may contribute to some of the incessant crying) But know that when pregnant, you may not sleep at all. And know that when tell a pregnant woman who has not slept in months to "sleep now", it takes every ounce of Jesus she has in her not to put her fist in your face.

Well, I tried to do 5, but apparently I had a few more to add. :)

life's little update

Wow, I seriously suck at this blogging thing lately. I cannot believe it's been another month since my last post -- well, almost a month. And I can't say anything has happened. I'm doing well. Baby is well -- and still not here. I'm just plain 'ole lazy. Honestly, I think this has a lot to do with it:

This seriously depresses me...

Things are going well, I'm in the miserable part of pregnancy and temperatures reaching in the 100's does not help. I'm so excited and ready for the little one to be here. Yesterday was quite a day for me as my hormones hit an all time high, or low depending on how you look at it, and my lack of sleep and increased insomnia caught up to me. I cried about 6 times yesterday. For no good reason, really.

I'm working hard to get the baby's room together before she gets here (just 5 1/2 more weeks!). I'm so glad that I stay home because honestly, I don't know how women work while pregnant. This making a baby business is hard work! :)

I've learned a lot, lately, though and can honestly say this has been probably the best experience of our lives. Pregnancy will force you to think about yourself, your spouse, your friends and your life in general. It's crazy to think that in a few short weeks I will be responsible for another person completely.

I've decided that it's come time to take a look at my life and the relationships that I have so that I can make a safe and happy home for my sweet girl. B has been incredible and I honestly don't think there is anyone else on this planet that I could have chosen better to have kids with. When things get hard, he is always there to help and encourage me. He lets me complain, cry and squeal with excitement and he never gives it a second thought that I really just might be crazy...

Baby Showers & A Little Update

Wow, things have been so crazy lately! I went on a fun trip with Bobby to Denver, well, he worked, I had fun...And while we were there I started experiencing some really crazy pain in my groin and leg, which I thought was just a vericose vein. Well, when we got back, I went back to the doctor because she wanted to check for a blood clot...Thank GOD it wasn't that. However, we discovered that as my pelvis and hips started to spread for the baby, my pelvis shifted out of place. Talk about pain! So, over the last week, I have been in excruciating pain as the doctors have tried to get it back in place. And thank goodness, I can feel such a difference and such a relief!

In better news...I've had two baby showers so far and we are definitely feeling the love! Here are a few pictures so you can see all of our goodies and all of the people I love the most! :)

3 Weeks!

I cannot believe it has been three weeks since my last blog post! Wow...Can we say lazy?!

Things have been a bit hectic...I had my first baby shower, traveled to Denver for a week, attended a few weddings, got a new baby cousin, won a giveaway, shopped and all the while have been experiencing this strange sensation to do absolutely nothing! And I literally mean nothing!

But, here I am, ready to catch up on all of your blogs and mine as well.

Right now I've got the camera charging up (it's so dead I cannot even turn it on to upload photos!) and will be back in full swing tomorrow.

You, my friends, have been missed!

Shopping and Sleepovers!

Lately it's been difficult to shop for myself, as I'm sure you could imagine with the 18 pound weight gain I mentioned yesterday. Luckily, to help curb the urge, I have the closet of a very special little girl to fill.

We are trying to not buy too much with all the baby showers on the horizon but sometimes there are deals just too good to pass up!

The last outfit is my absolute favorite! it's so sweet!

sorry about the photo quality...I took these with my iPhone and the shadows in her closet were so bad because we hadn't gotten the curtains up yet.

B and I also had a little sleepover last week. We had two of my little cousins and my goddaughter spend the night and we spent the next day at the beach to celebrate the little one's first birthday.

Silly girls. I can't wait until Alaina is here to be silly with them!

27 Weeks

Wow! Last week flew by! I didn't blog once and I felt so busy. Yet, I can't seem to remember what I did besides some shopping and a little sleepover.

Welp, since I haven't been keeping up with them...here is my 27 week update:

How Far Along: 27 weeks 2 days!

Size of baby: She is about 2 pounds and is almost 14 1/2 inches.

Total Weight Gain: 18 pounds!!! Oh my geeze!!!

Maternity Clothes: Still a mix. I've been buying a lot of regular dresses and I have a few pairs of low rise shorts that still fit. And I am living in the long and lean tanks from Target! But I am wearing maternity jeans and some shorts.

Gender: IT'S A GIRL!! Alaina (Lainey) Evonne

Movement: All. The. Time. I felt and SAW her roll over for the first in church Sunday morning. It was crazy! B can finally feel her kicking from the outside!

Sleep: I'm sorry, what is sleep?

What I miss: A good night's sleep.

Cravings: Nothing really anymore.

Symptoms: I'm having really, really bad charlie horses in the arch of my foot and my calves. Always at night and sometimes they are so bad I just want to cry. My dr said it's probably the extra weight and that sometimes when you are pregnant you have to stretch more when you work out to help your blood flow better. Keep that in mind.

What I’m looking forward to:
Baby showers! My first one is July 23 and I am so excited! I can't wait to finish her room, too.

We bought lots of stuff for her and for her room. I'll post that later this week. I love shopping for her!

Randoms

We are gearing up for some busy, busy weekends. I think we literally have something every single weekend until September. That stresses me out just a little...

I have way too many baby showers being planned to even mention. To be honest, It's kinda crazy how many I'm having. But I have a huge family and everyone is divorced so we have to have one for each side of the family...

I need to buy hostess gifts for everyone throwing said showers and have no clue what to get. Any ideas? Please, please, please help me think of something...Something that won't break the bank but is still cute.

Anything...

We decided that we are going to do maternity pictures. A friend of mine does photography as a hobby and has offered to do the pictures for us at no cost! Um, ah-mazing! I am going to take them in Galveston where we got married and maybe a few on the beach. And then she and I will spend the afternoon shopping and having lunch. I am pretty nervous about this because I'm still not sure how I feel about maternity pictures but, she offered, so I figured, why not?

Today my mom and I are spending the day together updating my registry, picking out invitations for my baby shower and just hanging out. I'm excited! This is pretty much our last free weekend before the madness starts.

A year...

Happy first birthday, Amelia! You are such a blessing in my life and B and I are so honored and so proud to be your godparents. We love you to pieces.

The day you were born you had so many visitors there was nowhere to sit...

As you grew, and even as a baby, you have always been such a great sleeper!

You are so curious and you want to be included in everything. I promise not to leave a room without you.

You make me so proud to be a part of your life and I am so happy that you will be so close to Alaina in age so that y'all can grow up as close as your mommy and I did. Just don't get her in trouble like your mommy got me in trouble. Remember that cousins can be best friends!

You and Bobby have very important things in common...You both LOVE tv....

25 Weeks

How Far Along: 25 (1/2) weeks!

Size of baby: She is a little over a pound and a half now and about 13 1/2 inches long.

This pic is kinda far away, but you get the gist. My belly is huge!

Total Weight Gain: At my last appointment I was up 10 pounds total. But, I had just gotten out of the hospital so I'm wondering how accurate that was. I go back next week so I will have a better number then. But I'm guessing around 13-15 pounds. Yes, already!

Cravings: Not much anymore. I am still fighting this beast of a sweet tooth though. Trying to salvage my weight by eating plums and watermelon as opposed to donuts and cake.

Symptoms: Not much other than being in a sleepy coma.

What I’m looking forward to:
Baby showers! Can't wait to celebrate my little one's arrival! And B being able to feel her move.

Guilty!

Every once in a while it's ok to indulge, right?

I have definitely been taking advantage of indulging in a few things right now...

Right now the list is rather long...but here are a few of my favorite guilty pleasures...

maxi dresses from Forever 21. I'm definitely growing and I love being able to fit into regular clothes. Plus, it's just too dang hot for anything other than dresses. I just purchased this one on Sunday.

Yes, I realize I am not 14 but I love this show! Haha!

NKOTB...I went to the NKOTBSB concert on Saturday and had such a great time! I swear every morning I wake up to 'I'll be loving you' stuck in my head every single morning!

If you have not tried the Crystal Light Decaffeinated Iced Tea with Lemon...shame on you. It's so yummy! I have been craving something other than water to drink and this is such a great option!

Plums...Yum! Sure, you wouldn't think of this as a guilty pleasure, necessarily. However, a serving size is one small plum. Not three. But I just can't help myself...

Confessions of a SAHW

The other day, while out to lunch with my parents and my MIL, we broached the topic of staying home. My MIL also stays home and has a husband who travels for weeks and months at a time. I adore my in-laws and love knowing that they would do anything for us, but I could never keep up with the expectations of my FIL. And I would never attempt to. I would simply work.

However, while on this subject, I came up with

Confession #2 of a Stay at Home Wife:

Had I married anyone other than my sweet B, I don't think I could be a SAHW.

People often ask me if I feel guilty for not contributing to the household income or if I feel that I wasted my college degree. The fact is, I do, sometimes. But the greater fact remains that I have a husband who would support me in any direction I choose. I know that he prefers me to stay home, but if I were to say, "B, I got a job," he would be happy for me.

He is never demanding.

I love taking care of him.

I look at others, friend, family, past boyfriends, and I know that I would never take the time to start dinner at noon because I want it to be perfect. Or to iron their shorts (yep, I iron dear husband's shorts).

I have days where I do nothing but go to the gym. Or swim. And he says nothing.

Then I have days where I spend hours cleaning and he walks in the door and raves about what a great wife I am. I love taking care of a man who appreciates everything that I do. No matter how big or small.

Yesterday, B and I were talking about magazine subscriptions and I actually told him I wanted to cancel my subscriptions to get a new subscription to Country Living.

Yes, I do take my role as a SAHW quite seriously.

The last few months/weeks have brought about some exciting times for my group of friends. We've had weddings, babies, big birthdays and lots of other fun stuff. I am one of those people who feels the need to celebrate every little thing so it's been an exciting time for me because everything has been such huge celebrations!

LP welcomed her sweet baby girl, Olivia Grace. Isn't she precious?!

Dr. and Mrs. B got married in Temecula, California and have moved from Texas to Arkansas :( We are very sad but very happy for them!

My nephews were dedicated to the church! So exciting! I forgot my good camera and the one I used here takes really horrid pictures!

My daddy turned 49! Yep, he's young! He's already planning a trip to Vegas for his 50th next year.

This little cutie pie will celebrate her first birthday next week!

And my friends Meg and Dan welcomed their sweet baby boy into the world. Kellan James was born a week early and is absolutely perfect! He looks just like his daddy!
As you can see, there are some exciting things happening here in Texas! I'm so happy to be here and to be celebrating with those that I love.

Mind your manners, friends.

I'm not quite sure why everyone has this need to be rude to others. Maybe it's their lack of social etiquette, or their lack of social filter...or maybe even, perhaps, their medical degree they earned off of Web MD. Whatever it is, it's completely unnecessary.

Yesterday at the gym I had the following conversation with a lady about 55 years old as I was walking into the fitness room and she was walking out:

Me - "Good Morning."
Her - "Good Morning. Are you here to work out?"
Me - "Nope, I'm here to observe. I dress like this for fun."
Her - "What class are you waiting on?"
Me - "Pilates."
Her - "You know, it's really not appropriate for pregnant ladies to work out. You never know what it could do to your baby. That is a very tough class. Very strenuous."
Me - "Really? I had no idea. I think I may need to tell my doctor so she can go back to medical school then because she told me that working out is good for me. Thank you so much for the advice! I will obviously listen to you over my doctor!"

Ok, you're right...That's not EXACTLY how the conversation went. But everything she said was dead on. I may or may not have said those things but I was definitely thinking them!

Here's another fun one. It literally took every ounce of Jesus I had in me not to slap this guy stupid.

I was at Kroger the other day picking up a few things and this man, probably in his late 40's early 50's (and probably drunk) comes up and says:

Him - "Oooh...how much longer do you have to go?"
Me - "About 3 1/2 months."
Him - "That's exciting! But you still have the entire summer to go!"
Me - "Yes, I know that."
Him - "It's going to be so hot!"
Me - "I know, it is every summer." (note the agitation is just a brewin'!)
Him - "Man, I sure feel sorry for your husband!"

That is the point where I wanted to spout off something snarky about him being single and that he probably would be for the rest of his life...but instead I smiled and walked away.

I also had someone ask me the other day if I had planned my baby. Maybe not completely rude, but I found it odd. Yes, we did plan our baby. But is that really anyone's business. I thought it was so odd and I was caught off guard. It's not like I'm 16, or dating a guy I've known for 3 months. I'm married, 27 years old and have been with B for 6 years! Is it really a surprise that we tried to get pregnant?!

Seriously, I've said it before, some people should really not be allowed in public...

If my expanding belly wasn't enough reassurance, getting Alaina's room in order has really reconfirmed the fact that we have a baby girl on the way! We are seriously so excited. It's a strange feeling. It's like getting ready for Christmas months in advance, having hundreds of gifts under the tree and not being able to open them. I obviously want her to stay in until she's ready but I am so ready for my baby girl to be here. I can't wait to hug and kiss and love on her!

Her furniture came from the Pottery Barn Catalina Collection. Sure, it was a bit pricey (I've heard it from all over) but the furniture is beautiful and really well made. I am very happy with our decision.

Her room is still a bit messy but we are definitely working on it! I cannot wait until it's done. It is definitely a work in progress but we are getting there, my friends!

I had better pictures of the crib and dresser close up for some reason they will not upload :( I'm not happy with either the new blogger editor or Verizon internet. I'm not sure which it is but one of them has been giving me nothing but problems!

Cutie pie!

Yesterday I got a to spend the day with my goddaughter. If Alaina turns out to be as well behaved as this little cutie, I'm in luck! She spent the night and slept really well all night long and I'm surprised and happy to say, she did not cry once the entire time I had her!

This is a random thought but today I realized I have over 6,500 songs in my iTunes library...and I don't like most of them. Time for an update? I think so! Suggestions are welcomed!

Nursery Work

Before my hospital visit we spent a lot of time working on Alaina's nursery. I'm really happy with what we've accomplished so far.

Hey ladies!

I'm so happy to be back. Back home. Back to my blog. Back to my regularly scheduled days.

Things have been beyond crazy, to say the least. Wednesday, June 8, I had a pretty hectic day of running errands and thought that I had just pushed too hard for the day. I skipped my workout class and church and cooking dinner. I decided that after a morning of running around, I was done for the day. I didn't feel well and being pregnant, I didn't feel like I needed to explain my decision.

My sweet, sweet hubby offered to bring me dinner but since I wasn't feeling well, I told him I was fine. By the time he walked in the door I was in so much pain I was literally in a ball on the couch crying my eyes out. It hurt to move or even breath.

Since the pain was in my lower back, I automatically panicked thinking it was labor pains and that it was way too early for this. So, we called my OB who told me to go to the ER, who sent me to Antepartum.

I was terrified that we were going to lose Lainey. They monitored for contractions and since I only had one tiny one, they were sure it wasn't labor. I was convinced it was a kidney stone and had to tell the nurse that I was positive it wasn't a UTI.

So, after deciding that sweet Lainey was fine, they gave me pain meds and sent me to ultrasound to get a better peek at my kidney. Sure enough, there it was. A 6.5mm kidney stone. Ugh. So, after lots of pain meds, five bags of fluids, fingers swollen so huge I cut my finger taking off my wedding ring, days in the hospital, I passed the stone and was put on temporary bed rest.

Oh the drama that fills my life!

After about a few days, I started to feel so much better. My first few days home I just slept. I am happy to report that other than the occasional, minute pain in my kidney, I am better.

Just before I got my stone, I had lots of fun stuff to update you all on. We got the nursery started, bought a few things for the baby, had vacation bible school, and had a few fun bday parties! I will update you all on those in the next few days. For now, I'm just happy to be up and moving around!

21 Weeks and we have a name!!

How Far Along: 21 (almost 22) weeks!

Size of baby: She is a little over 12 ounces now and about 10 inches long.

BabyCenter says she is about the size of a banana.

Total Weight Gain: Not exactly sure but I would guess about 7 or 8 pounds. But it feels like much more! I did take a picture but B made me lift my shirt and I'm just not ready to get that person with y'all! I forgot to take a regular one :(

Maternity Clothes: Yep. Already. I am pretty short so I've never had this problem but everything is too short! I have to wear long, tunic style stuff or maternity.

Gender: IT'S A GIRL!!!

Her name is going to be:

Alaina Evonne LASTNAME

We are so happy to be able to call her by her name rather than "it" or "the baby". B is already nicknaming her Lainey and Evonne is after my wonderful Grandma. I'm so happy we are having a little girl so I can name her after someone so special to me.

Movement: Um, yes. It's like she's putting on a dance recital! She was getting down in church Sunday morning. I love feeling her kick and move.

Sleep: Some nights are better than others.

What I miss: A good night's sleep

Cravings: Not much anymore. But I did crave mustard the other day. :/

Symptoms: Morning sickness is gone!!! Symptoms now include gigantic boobs (see post below) and really weird dreams. I dreamt that I graduated nursing school with Britney Spears. Um...pretty sure that would NEVER happen!

What I’m looking forward to:
Painting Alaina's room and putting together her crib! We are painting this Friday and I'm soooo excited!

Some things are too funny not to share...

Yesterday my sweet husband took me to dinner at a yummy sushi restaurant (I had steamed veggies with chicken, not sushi).

After a long day of hard work, I was ready for something fun and relaxing! I had gotten up before the sun, worked out, caught up on a bit of ironing, cleaned out my sweet baby girls room, cleaned the office and taken my puppy to the vet.

So, I got all cute...well, as cute as you can be in stretchy jeans and tops...and was ready to go. As we were walking out the door, my bra snapped in half!

It was too funny not to take a picture of!

I knew by bubbies (for you RHONJ/Teresa fans) were growing but OH. MY. WOW!!! I didn't realize they could break a bra!!!

So...to make me feel better, B took me out for birthday cake ice cream after dinner...Probably not the way to go but oh well...It was YUMMY!!!

This was definitely where I was finding happiness at that moment!

Monday I'll post an update on Baby girl and let you all know the name we've chosen!
